*DISCLAIMER:  This tract is a HYPOTHESIS, or a best guess scenario, and not a doctrinal teaching that the rapture will happen in 2010.   I do not and cannot know for sure the date of the rapture.  This is only my best guess.  If 2010 goes by and rapture has not come, it does not mean there is no such thing as the rapture.  It just means, my GUESS was wrong.  Truthfully, I hope I am wrong!  I hope the rapture comes much, much sooner!!!

2010: A SPACE ODYSSEY

Years ago Hollywood made a movie entitled, "2001: A Space Odyssey," in which, some astronauts traveled into deep space. Later they made a sequel entitled, "2010: First Contact," where astronauts made contact with celestial beings. Both of these, of course, were pure fiction.

But what if there were to be a real Space Odyssey for Christians in the year 2010? What if that's the date of the rapture, when all born again believers travel into outer space with their Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ up to the third heaven? What if 2010 were the year that Jesus came for the church? Would that be too far fetched?

Many Christians are quick to bark, "No man can know the day or the hour of Christ's return!" This is certain, for this was what Jesus said in Matthew 25:13. However, in 1 Thessalonians, we read that it's possible for a Christian to know about when Jesus comes. (Maybe not the day or hour, but possibly the month or year). For there we read in 1 Thessalonians 5:1-4:

Paul plainly tells us in this passage that the rapture (found in chapter 4:13-18) will not overtake a Christian like a thief in the night. It's like the pains of a woman who is about to give birth. No one can know the exact day or hour when a baby is to be born, but they can sure get close, because they know it's about nine months from the time of conception. In other words, they can know, as Paul says, "the times and the seasons."

When it comes to the Rapture of the church, will the body of Christ know the season when Christ is coming? Could we know at least the year of his return?

In the Book of Matthew, the Bible speaks of wise men who came from the East searching for the baby Jesus. Why? Because they knew he was coming, and they saw his star (Matthew 2:1,2). The Bible further says they were questioned by Herod of when they saw the star (Matt. 2:7), and Matthew 2:16 implies that they knew within two years of Christ's first coming. Could we as Christians also know within two years of Christ's coming for us at the Rapture?

THE CHURCH AGE

According to the Bible, Christ Jesus came to the world to die for sinners (1 Tim. 1:15). After he rose again, he promised to return for his own (John 14:3). But when exactly will this be?

The Bible teaches the rapture will be at the end of the Church Age, or time in which the Church lives upon the earth, which lasts exactly two thousand years. We arrive at this number by reading 2 Peter 3:8, which states: "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day."

If we take this formula of one day equaling one thousand years and vice versa, we can plug this into the literal seven days of creation and we find an amazing thing! The seven days of creation line up with the seven thousand years of human history! See chart below:

Through careful study of the genealogies of the Bible, one can clearly see that from Adam to Jesus is almost exactly four thousand years! We now are in the year 2006 (as I write this tract).

And the last one thousand years of human history, according to the Bible is that of the "millennial reign of Christ" which the Bible tells us is exactly one thousand years (Rev. 20:6).

How awesome is the word of God! It lays out the entire history of man (7000 years) in the first couple of chapters of Genesis!

Those who study their Bible know that we are in the "Church Age," a period of time after the death of Jesus in which salvation is by grace through faith. In this age, God works more with the Gentiles than the Jews, who rejected Jesus as their Messiah. But God is not done with the Jew, and will rise them up again (For further particulars see Romans chapter eleven).

According to Hosea chapter six and verses one and two, we can see how long the church age will be when we read the following prophecy to the Jews:

Going back to our formula of one day as a thousand years and vice versa, we clearly see that the Church age (a period of time for the Church, and not the Jews) is exactly 2000 years.

THE PROPHECY IN DANIEL

The book of Daniel tells God's plan for the Jews. God is not finished with them, and in Daniel's time, He prophesied unto them 70 weeks (Dan. 9:24). This 70 weeks is not a week of days, but rather of years. Each week is seven years according to the scriptures (490 yrs total).

The prophecy then continues in Daniel 9:25,26:

Here the scripture teaches that the Messiah (Jesus) will be cut of at 69 (sixty-two plus seven) weeks. That means that there is one week left to go. Many Bible Scholars and teachers make this final week of seven years the Tribulation period in which the Anti-Christ reigns on the earth (see 2 Thess. 2:1-4) after the rapture.

Thus, to try to pinpoint the rapture, one must then count exactly two thousand years (according to Hosea) from when the Messiah was cut off (died), which marks the beginning of the church age and body of Christ (see Eph. 2:16), and he should be able to find when the rapture will be and when the Tribulation will begin.

The only question is how God counts years in the church age. When Jesus worked with the Jews, he used a Lunar calendar. That is to say, a year was counted as 360 days. However, in the church age, would God count 364¼ days per year as Gentiles do? (Remember the church age also includes The Times of the Gentiles. See Luke 21:24).

Counting from Christ's death two thousand years would bring us to the date of 2033 (for Christ Jesus was thirty three years old when he died). Does that mean that the rapture will take place in 2033? You decide.

But if God is using the Jewish calendar, then it would be much sooner. Below are my calculations using both the Gentile and Jewish methods of counting years.

Let us start with the Gentile calendar, and multiply 2000 years times 364¼ days.

2000 x 364.25 = 728,500 days

If we go by the Jewish calendar, then we multiply:

2000 x 360 = 720,000 days

Between the two sums, we have a difference of 8,500 days or 23.36 years (divided by 364¼ days of the Gentile Calendar) or 23.6111 years (based on the 360 day year in the Jewish Calendar).

We must then subtract twenty three years (the difference on the Jewish calendar) to see how long 2000 years would be if God is using the Jewish calendar.

2033 - 23 = 2010

Could it be that God is using the Jewish Lunar calendar (remember that the moon is a type of the Church in Scripture). Could 2010 be the year that Christ returns for his bride the Church???

If this year is indeed the date of the rapture, we have a very interesting picture unfolding when we apply Biblical Numerics with the dates after the Rapture. They line up somewhat with what's going to happen in the Tribulation according to the book of Revelation!

If the rapture indeed is in the year 2010, then the following dates are more than just coincidence when you look at the Biblical numerics of each date.

WHAT IF... ?

If all of this is indeed true, then that means that exactly one thousand years later, in 3017, the Devil would come back and rebel against God, as the book of revelation prophecies. Could 3017 be the date of the Battle of Gog and Magog??? And would 3018 be the beginning of the new heavens and the new earth?

SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION

2010 might very well be the year that we Christians take our "SPACE ODYSSEY" through the clouds to our celestial home above! Are you ready?

But I could be entirely wrong. He might come even sooner than that! Maybe today!

Thus, before closing, I want to stress to the reader that all of the information in this tract is speculative. And I want to clarify that I'm not dogmatically stating that the rapture of the church must happen in the year 2010. Nor am I prophesying "Thus saith the Lord, the rapture will be in 2010!" No, I've seen too many "false prophets" and "date setters" who have dogmatically set the date of the rapture on one of the following years: 1988, 1989, 1993, 1998, and 2000.

I don't wish to do the same, and look like a fool if it doesn't come to pass. Thus, I'm only stating the possibility in this tract that the rapture could very well happen in the year 2010.

But I will go out on a limb, and boldly state that the rapture of the church must take place no later than the year 2033 (if our calendar is right), according to Hosea 6:1,2 and 2 Peter 3:8.

Many will claim I'm crazy for what I've written here, but my motive is pure. My only desire is for Christians to read this material and get a sense of URGENCY! For the time most certainly is short, and we as true believers need to do even more for the Lord and work even harder to win souls as we see the great day of the Rapture approaching. For truly Christ Jesus is coming soon! And it won't be very long until:
