THE BIBLICAL GOSPEL OF SALVATION BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH WITHOUT WORKS
Many people believe that salvation is attained by works. Most religions propagate this false idea, teaching that God will only accept a man according to what he does. This has led to countless millions believing that if their good works outweigh their bad works, then God will accept them and give them eternal life. But does the Bible teach this? MOST CERTAINLY NOT!
According to the Bible, man cannot earn salvation by his own goodness. Ephesians 2:8-9 clearly states, "For by GRACE are ye saved through FAITH; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
Biblically, salvation is not by works, rather by FAITH, or by BELIEVING. The Bible is so dogmatic, it says in Romans 4:5: "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness."
God justifies a sinner based upon what he does with Jesus, not what he does for Jesus.
In Romans chapter three, the Apostle Paul clearly states:
20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
These verses prove that justification (or salvation) is not by man's deeds or good works, but by God's grace.
Even Jesus said salvation is by grace through faith in John 6:47, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life." And again in John 5:24, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."
According to these verses, only FAITH in the Lord Jesus brings salvation, not faith in one one's works.
The Bible plainly teaches no one can enter heaven trusting in what he DOES, but only by trusting in what Jesus DID.
Romans 5:6,8 plainly states, "For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly...But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
We clearly see God's love on Calvary's cross when Jesus offered himself to God as the ultimate sacrifice for the sins of mankind. 1 Peter 3:18 shows WHAT Jesus did for us when it says, "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit."
And, 1 Corinthians 15:3 tells us WHY Jesus died in our place: "...for our sins."
Now, let's make this personal. The Lord Jesus Christ died for YOUR SINS, because he loved you and wanted you to be saved. But, you must come unto Jesus and receive him as your Saviour!
To believe you can earn heaven by your own good works, means Jesus died in vain. For, what you do will never compare to what Jesus did for you when he paid your sin debt. You cannot reach heaven by any other means than by accepting HIS WORK OF LOVE!
Acts 4:12 tells us, "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."
Could all religions be wrong, which teach a man can attain heaven by trusting his own works? Clearly, according to the Bible, they are. God will never bestow salvation upon a man who trusts in his own righteousness. To be saved, a man must REPENT (turn from trusting his works to trusting in the work of Jesus on Calvary).
Romans 10:3 speaks of those countless millions of lost religious people who think they can get saved by their works: "For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God."
Is it possible that you might be one of these lost religious people who is trusting in his own righteousness instead of in God's? Do you think you can make it to heaven without Jesus Christ? Think again! Biblically, salvation is only through the Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 6:23 states, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Jesus Christ shed his blood on the cross to pay for your sins. Now you must decide to either accept or reject the Lord Jesus Christ.
Biblically, God gives you eternal life only by grace through faith. Faith in what? Romans 3:25 gives the answer: "Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God."
Will you right now, with a repentant heart, trust the shed blood of Jesus Christ as sufficient to save your soul? If you will, then you are declaring God's righteousness and you will be eternally saved! But if you reject Jesus Christ, thinking you can attain heaven by your own works, you will burn eternally in the fires of Hell, suffering the wrath of a holy God. The decision is yours: TRUST YOUR OWN WORKS AND BE DAMNED or TRUST THE WORK OF CHRIST AND BE SAVED.
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. - John 3:36
