The word salvation is found in the King James Bible 164 times in 158 verses. The first time we see the word is in Genesis 49:18, and the last time it appears is Revelation 19:1. Truly, salvation is found throughout the entire Bible. The Scriptures tell us man cannot save himself. He is a sinner, and his sins separate him from God. He then needs to be saved. All religions teach a man can be saved by something he DOES. That is, they teach a system of works a man must do to justify himself before God. But according to the Bible, God will never accept the works of a sinner. God demands blood for sin, and only forgives based upon sacrifice. When Adam and Eve sinned, God took an animal and killed it in their place, shedding the animal's blood. All throughout the Bible thereafter, we find sinners offering a bleeding lamb to God. Under the law, the Israelites were commanded to offer up free will offerings to God. They had to take a lamb, and cut its throat and give it to the priest, who offered the rich, red blood upon the altar as an atonement for their sins. But, being a compassionate and loving God, he sent His son Jesus Christ into the world to do away with those blood sacrifices. How? By himself becoming the ultimate blood sacrifice for sins! Jesus Christ, the sinless substitute, died on the cross in your place and mine. He SHED HIS BLOOD and offered himself up to God as THE FINAL LAMB for all sins, past present, and future. This is the foundation of Christianity! You cannot be saved without blood! The Bible clearly teaches salvation then is not by man's WORKS, rather by God's WORK for man, in coming and dying on the cross for man's sins. In other words, a man is not saved by what he DOES, rather by accepting what God has DONE for him on his behalf. The truth of Salvation is the blood atonement of Christ. If Jesus Christ had not come into this world and died on the cross, man could never be saved. And unless a person receives by FAITH the blood atonement of Jesus as sufficient to save him and wash all his sins away, he can never be saved. This is the plain Bible truth about Salvation. Sadly, modern Christianity constantly leaves out the blood of Jesus Christ. This ought not so to be!
